LIVE FOLK MUSIC IN APRIL
The Robert Gillow is pleased to offer the following acts on our Thursday night folk night starting at 9 pm.
THURSDAY 13th October .......................Rodney Corder and Jean-Pierre Rudolph
On tour from Ireland, 2011 sees Rodney and Jean 30 years on the road.
They are perhaps one of the most unique acoustic -duos around, combining the wit of the Irish with the charm of the French and also 1 of the best kept secrets of the music scene.
They have 9 albums and toured in over 20 countrys and been on over 50 t.v and radio shows. On stage they use fiddle, guitar, flute, mandolin, tin-whistles and bodhran to perform traditional, contemporary and original songs, mostly in the celtic style with a little swing jazz throen in for good mesure ans strogly laced with humour and audience participation.
THURSDAY 20th October ....................................................................Gren Bartley
A "phenomenal guitarist and singer" , Gren Bartley is deeply rooted in old folk and blues traditions whilst stamping his own stlye on the genre. Whilst the first thing you will hear is his guitar the next will be his mature vocals and poetically crafted lyrics that ensure the longevity of this young musician's career. He is often compared to the likes of Richard Thompson, Nic Jones and Kelly Joe Phelps - an emerging talent not to be missed.
THURSDAY 27th October ...........................................Phil Saunders
This is Phil's second visit to The Gillow . He is a solid, stonkin' blues man who will entertain and delight you. He plays guitar and harmonica and sings, and weather he is playing his own or rejuvenating classic blues numbers his music is down too earth.
